Jesus made disciples through intentional conversations with people. Though he taught hundreds, and met with dozens, he devoted the majority of his time to forming his 12 disciples. Many of his conversations were 1 on 1.
We follow Jesus’ example by intentionally engaging with others in 1 on 1 conversations in order to help them become Fully Devoted Disciples of Jesus.
While discipleship is a life-long process, the foundation of it consists of growing in six key areas. Jesus’ parable of the Sower (Matthew 13:1-23) provides the rubric for the six key areas of discipleship in every believer’s life.
Every Believer should be continually growing in the following areas by first being discipled, and then by discipling others.
Know your Story, and share it publicly through baptism- This is evidence that the seed of the Gospel has taken root in you.
Develop regular rhythms of time in the Word and Prayer- This nurtures the seed of the Gospel to help it grow in you.
Engaged in Biblical Community through House Church- Being deeply connected to others strengthens your root system.
Devote time to Serve our City- Refocusing our attention on the needs of others shows the upward growth of our faith.
Cultivate Generosity- The weeds of greed and the seduction of wealth can destroy our faith. Generosity pulls weeds.
Leverage God’s Work in you to continually Disciple Others- The fruitfulness of our life begins when we reproduce faith in others.
The process of Discipleship is tilling the soil through through regular and intentional conversations about these things. Simply connect with your House Church pastor to start a 1 on 1 discipleship journey.
Our next ONE:ONE DISCIPLESHIP Training will be TBD following the 11AM Gathering in the Great Room. Lunch will be provided.
